Murray White Room, Sargood lane, Melbourne
Murray White Room is pleased to present Quite Contrary, a new series of paper cut-outs by Sangeeta Sandrasegar.
For almost two decades now Sandrasegar’s practice has examined structures of culture, sexuality and identity, and her most recent exhibition examines the contradictory historical image of Mary Magdalene through a feminist lens
Sangeeta takes a relatively modest medium, paper, and works it into a rich meditation on sexuality and culture. Her visual language, by nature of its use of intricate cut-outs, is principally concerned with the attendant play of silhouette and shadows.
