Ildiko Kovacs is widely considered to be one of the leading abstract painters of her generation. A regular finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ Wynne and Sulman Prizes, Kovacs’ work is held in numerous major public and private collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Newcastle Region Art Gallery, the Laverty Collection and World Bank.
In her latest series, Kovacs recommences work using the roller, a resurgence of a tool that has been part of her practice for the past 15 years. The series of work opened up emotions of duality, both past and present for Kovacs, as the inevitability of personal reflection was made present during the creation of the work.
