Onrie Radovic
Australia
Onrie Radovic graduated from the Master of Fine Arts (Painting) program at the National Art School, Sydney, in 2021. His first solo show I’ll always be happy to see you was exhibited at Minerva, Sydney in 2024, and he has also participated in a number of group shows at Minerva and elsewhere. One of Onrie’s recent small series of “flower” paintings was acquired by the Australian Government Office for the Arts collection (artbank) at the 2024 Sydney Contemporary art fair. Two new paintings from this series will be shown at Melbourne Art Fair 2025.
Onrie’s process begins with a photograph, which is then painted using the CMYK four-colour scheme, with each colour its own layer. He describes the paintings as oscillating between romantic notions of painting and the technology employed by commercial printers. Although he works within strict parameters, variations and slippages intervene to affirm the authority of the subjective and the human element.
