Diana Copperwhite lives and works in Dublin. She studied painting at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 1994 and completed her MA Winchester School of Art, Barcelona.
Recent solo exhibitions were held at Flowers Gallery London (2024); Highlanes Municipal Gallery, Drogheda, Ireland (2023); Limerick City Gallery of Art, Ireland (2023); Thomas Jaeckel Gallery, NYC (2022); Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin (2021). A large scale work was selected to hang in the Summer show at the Royal Academy, London (2024)
"Copperwhite works not only with ideas of decision versus immediacy but with a fusion of layers, a sense in each part of the painting there was once something else there, that something has been left or covered or erased. She loves the volatile excitement of paint, the amount of expression you can get from tonality in colour; and then she loves channeling this excitement and that expression, covering it over, doing more work to it, adding, subtracting, layering.”
