For FUTUREOBJEKT, Agency Projects presents Contour: Fibre Forms.

Contour: Fibre Forms showcases objects created for ceremony and everyday use through to contemporary works that extend material and conceptual possibilities. The works Shonae has selected acknowledge the artisans – predominantly women – whose knowledge, skill, and labour have sustained and evolved these practices across generations.  Surrounded by woven works from Milingimbi Art & Culture, Maningrida Arts & Culture, and Bula’Bula Arts, Shonae and Leila will unpack the curatorial vision behind Contour: Fibre Forms, acknowledging the labour, skill, and cultural knowledge of First Nations weavers, whose practices continue to be sustained and renewed over time.

Shonae Hobson is a Southern Kaantju, Umpila, and Kuuku Ya’u woman from Coen, Cape York Peninsula and works as an independent curator, writer and art consultant across First Nations art, fashion, and design.

Leila Gurruwiwi is a proud Yolŋu woman from the Galpu clan, originally from Galiwinku on Elcho Island in North East Arnhem Land, NT and is Agency’s Cultural Liaison and Public Programs Lead.

Location: FUTUREOBJEKT Booth E14
