Melbourne Art Fair Appoints Anador Walsh as Curator of LIVE

Melbourne Art Fair is delighted to announce the appointment of Anador Walsh as Curator of LIVE for the 17th iteration of the Fair.

LIVE, subtitled Performing Care, is an onsite performance program that will present a series of new commissions by an emergent generation of Naarm-based performance artists during Melbourne Art Fair. In response to the Fair’s thematic, 𝘬𝘦𝘡𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘒, this program brings core members of the Performance Review community to the table to share in this opportunity and ponder how performance can best be cared for and represented in an art fair context.

LIVE is presented by Glenfiddich, the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky, and proudly celebrates the practices of boundary-pushing artists.

Anador Walsh is a Naarm-based curator, writer and the founding director of Performance Review. In 2020, Walsh took part in the Gertrude Emerging Writers Program and was the 2019 recipient of the BLINDSIDE Emerging Curator Mentorship. She is the curator of β€˜Contact High’, Gertrude and Performance Review’s annual performance program and in 2022 curated the Naarm premiere of Angela Goh’s β€˜Body Loss’ at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia for Melbourne Art Fair. She has written for Art Guide, Runway Journal, Memo Review, ACCA, PICA and the NGV and regularly contributes to The Saturday Paper. Until 2018, Walsh was Gertrude’s Marketing and Development Manager.

Performance Review (established 2021) is a space for the development of discursive and experimental writing about live art. Through partnerships with Gertrude, Melbourne Art Fair and the Keir Choreographic Award, in 2022 Performance Review also began presenting performance and covering theatre-based dance, prioritising new opportunities for emerging writers and artists engaged with this medium.

Melbourne Art Fair will take place 22-25 February 2024 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. First release tickets are on sale now.
