Join acclaimed artist John Young in conversation with ARC ONE Gallery as he discusses his Polychrome painting series and the ideas that underpin his practice. Developed through sustained research and philosophical inquiry, the Polychrome works explore colour, perception and the ethical dimensions of painting, drawing on Young’s long-standing engagement with cross-cultural histories and both Eastern and Western thought.
In this talk, Young will reflect on the evolution of the Polychrome series, his approach to materiality, structure and process, and the ways painting functions as both a visual and conceptual language within his broader body of work. The discussion will also consider his ongoing career as one of Australia’s leading contemporary painters and painting’s capacity for critical reflection and dialogue.
