Join Andy Kelly from Oigall Projects in a conversation with artists Huseyin Sami and Mason Kimber, about their concurrent solo exhibitions at Sophie Gannon Gallery; Colour Chronicles and Keystone.
Huseyin Sami’s practice has long been driven by a steady, exploratory inquiry into how painting can embody ideas of time, action, and process. His evolving strategies draw on a repertoire of pictorial techniques such as pouring, dripping, rolling, stretching, and cutting paint, each serving as a means to expand the possibilities of his medium. These ongoing inquiries represent a sustained cycle of refinement and reconsideration, deepening his understanding of painting and extending the boundaries of what it can do.
Mason Kimber is a Sydney/Gadigal-based artist who makes textural paintings that extend into sculptural relief and site-specific installations to engage with the social dimension of architecture and its relation to memory.
