Julian Meagher

Australia

D.O.B: 25/05/1978

Julian Meagher’s works evoke a sense of the sublime, capturing ephemeral and ever-changing moments that sit between reality and comprehension. Pared down and minimal, his oil paintings act as a mirror into the artist’s introspections on the world and its condition. Paintings that appear to be landscapes at first glance unravel as self-portraits, fields of colour and abstracted dreamscapes; encapsulating his larger hopes for nature, his family and the future. His paintings collapse the divide between genres, blurring the line between what is real and what is imagined. Meagher has exhibited in Australia and overseas, including most recently his major solo show ‘Triple Rainbow’, Mudgee Arts Precinct (2024), as well as solo shows at Goulburn Regional Art Gallery (2023), Bega Valley Regional Gallery (2018) and the Australian High Commission in Singapore (2012). He has been a four-time finalist in the Archibald Prize, and finalist in The Glover Prize, Doug Moran Prize, Wynne Prize, and more.
